Pranab Mukherjee Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha last week
spent two hours convincing Ajit Singh son of Choudhary Charan Singh
to accept the UPA2 offer to join as a Cabinet Minister
with a "weighty and milky" Ministry,.Ajit Singh demands
Commerce, but Congress is ready to adjust him with
Non Conventional Energy. Ajit Singh is now engaged
in a tough negotiation.
Ajit Singh has 5 MPs in Lok Sabha, and this alliance would help
Congress in the next year Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
Ajit Singh joining Cabinet will also send a signal to other allies
like NCP to keep a low profile.
Hectic political activities have begun as the second half of the
Budget session is to begin on April 15
In February when the Opposition unity was too visible on price
rise and on nuke bill, Core Committee of the Congress authorised
Pranab Mukherjee to work out a formula with Ajit Singh.
Congress wooing Ajit Singh will benefit Congress in the longer run.
WIth Ajit SIngh support of MLAs in UP, Congress might field
Captain Satish Sharma as Rajya Sabha canidate. Hence it is a
greater ploy to woo Ajit Singh. To break Mayawati domain in
certain pockets with the help of Ajit Singh.is also one of the prposition.
