UPA2 IGNORED DMK ON PJ THOMAS

6-9-2010

P J Thomas controversy as CVC
takes new political turn.

DMK is peeved over discourtesy by UPA2

By R Rajagopalan

DMK felt  that Prime Minister Office did not show courtesy to
minister A Raja on the selection of P J Thomas as
Central Vigilance Commissioner.

HIghly placed DMK sources told this correspondent that after having
selected P J Thomas as CVC, is it not a courtesy to convey the
decision to A Raja? Should Minister A Raja wait to know about selection
of Secretary to Telecom P J Thomas was choice for CVC.

DMK is also peeved over silence over successor of P J Thomas
as Secretary to Department of Telecommunication. No panel
of IAS officers names were submitted to A Raja.

When the CAG, CBI, PAC and other government agencies are
inquiring into 2G allocation- a major political storm it has  created.
The successor of P J Thomas shoud be an officer with high integrity.
He will take atleast two or three months to understand the 2G issue.
Abruptly taking away P J Thomas was a severe jolt to DMK  Minister A Raja
feels a senior DMK  leader.

Either TKA Nair or K M Chandrasekhar two top officials of UPA2 dispensation
should have called up A Raja to convey the decision. Failing in their
courtesy, A Raja learnt such appointment through media. Later
P J Thomas called A Raja about his selection.

Thomas might have constraints to convey to A Raja-he waited for
the official communication from President of India. And that was
Thomas side story.

DMK leader who spoke to this correspondent on telephone from
Chennai - said that since PMO has been too careful while dealing
with its allies, atleast as courtesy DMK expected Prithviraj Chavan
or TKA Nair of PMO should have phoned A Raja.
